Vào ngày chủ nhật, Ba mời Liz cùng với gia đinh anh đi chơi một ngày về quê anh cách Hà Nội khoảng 60 kilômet về phía bắc. Ngôi làng nằm gần chân một ngọn núi và cạnh một dòng sông. Nhiều người thường đến đó vào những ngày cuối tuần để nghỉ ngơi sau một tuần làm việc vất vả. Chuyến đi đến ngôi làng rất thú vị. Mọi người có dịp đi giữa những cánh đồng lúa xanh và băng qua một cánh rừng tre nhỏ trước khi đến một cây đa to già nằm ngay lối vào làng. Liz gặp gia đinh Ba tại nhà anh vào sáng sớm, và sau hai giờ di xe buýt, họ đến cây đa to già đó. Mọi người cảm thấy mệt mỏi và đói bụng, do đó họ ngồi xuống dưới gốc cây và dùng một ít thức ăn.
